Granite Remnants in Atlanta: Affordable Options for Vanities, Islands & Small Projects

If you’re working on a small countertop project — a bathroom vanity, a wet bar, a laundry room, or a small kitchen island — you don’t need a full granite slab. What you need is a granite remnant. At Top South’s Marietta facility, we maintain an active inventory of remnants from premium and exotic slabs we’ve previously fabricated. For Atlanta homeowners on a budget, or anyone working on a project too small to justify a full slab, remnants are one of the best-kept secrets in the countertop world.

What Is a Granite Remnant?

A remnant is the leftover piece of a granite slab after a larger project has been cut. Full granite slabs are huge — typically 9 to 10 feet long by 5 to 6 feet wide. After a kitchen is cut and shaped, there’s often a useful piece left over: maybe 2 by 4 feet, maybe larger. Those leftover pieces become remnants.

Remnants are real, premium-grade granite — the exact same stone we sold at full retail for the original project. They’re just smaller, which means they’re only suitable for smaller installations. But for the right project, you can save anywhere from 30% to 60% off the full-slab price.

What Granite Remnants Are Perfect For

Remnants work beautifully for any project under approximately 25 square feet. The most common uses we see at our Atlanta showroom:

  • Bathroom vanities — single and double, anywhere from 24″ to 72″ wide
  • Wet bars and dry bars — the home bar with a granite top is one of the most popular remnant projects
  • Laundry room counters — durable, easy to clean, and resistant to detergent stains
  • Outdoor kitchen counters — granite holds up beautifully to Atlanta weather (with proper sealing)
  • Fireplace surrounds and hearths — striking and heat-resistant
  • Bookcase or built-in tops — perfect for finishing custom millwork
  • Pantry counters and kitchen baking stations
  • Small kitchen islands (typically up to 6 feet long)
  • Coffee station counters in offices or kitchens
  • Pet feeding station bases — yes, really; we’ve done these

Why Atlanta Homeowners Love Remnants

Beyond the cost savings, remnants offer a few real advantages:

  • You can buy premium and exotic stones at much lower per-square-foot prices
  • Lead times are typically faster — the stone is already on-site
  • You can often find one-of-a-kind patterns no longer available in full slabs
  • It’s a more sustainable choice, using material that would otherwise become waste
  • Smaller projects can use higher-grade stone than your budget would otherwise allow

Granite Remnant Pricing in Atlanta

Pricing varies by stone type, size, and quality, but as a general guide for Atlanta-area projects:

Project Type Typical Size Estimated Remnant Pricing (installed)
Single Bath Vanity (one sink) ~10–15 sq. ft. $300 – $700
Double Bath Vanity ~18–22 sq. ft. $550 – $1,100
Wet Bar / Dry Bar ~6–12 sq. ft. $250 – $600
Laundry Room Counter ~8–14 sq. ft. $350 – $750
Small Kitchen Island ~15–25 sq. ft. $600 – $1,400
Fireplace Surround ~10–15 sq. ft. $400 – $900

These ranges include fabrication, edge profile, basic cutouts (sink or faucet), installation, and disposal of any existing surface. Final pricing depends on the specific remnant available when you visit.

How to Shop the Top South Remnant Inventory

Remnant inventory changes weekly — sometimes daily — as new projects are completed and pieces are claimed. The best way to shop is to visit our Marietta showroom in person:

  • Bring your project measurements (length, width, and a rough sketch if it’s irregular)
  • Bring a cabinet sample or color reference for the room
  • Plan to spend 30–60 minutes browsing the remnant racks
  • Take photos of any contenders — lighting changes the look
  • We’ll measure the remnant against your project and tell you immediately if it works

Once you’ve chosen a remnant, we’ll template your space, fabricate, and install on the standard 7 to 10 business day timeline. Smaller projects (single bath vanities, bar tops) often install faster.

When a Remnant Isn’t the Right Choice

Remnants are great for small projects, but they’re not the right answer for every situation:

  • Large kitchens — full slabs typically produce better seam placement and color consistency
  • Projects that need bookmatched seams — you need two consecutive cuts from one slab
  • Specific color or pattern preferences — remnant inventory is unpredictable; if you want a specific stone, you may need a full slab
  • Very large islands (over 8 feet) — most remnants aren’t long enough
